banana or whipped cream, it's dessert—
½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
¾ cup mashed ripe banana

1¼ cups sifted cake flour
¾ teaspoon soda
½ teaspoon salt
Cream shortening and sugar until
light. Add eggs, one at a time,
beating well after each. Stir in
banana. Sift together dry ingredi-
ents; add to banana mixture. Mix
till well blended. Pour into a
greased 9x9x2-inch pan. Bake in
moderate oven (350°) 30 to 35
minutes. Cut in squares to serve.
